The French provocateur behind Enter the Void and Irreversible returns to our screens with the hotly anticipated and wildly explicit sexual odyssey Love.
Igniting controversy and must-see appeal at the Cannes Film Festival this year, Love is a semi-autobiographical, sexually-charged melodrama - and is Gaspar Noé’s most ambitious work to date.
The film follows Murphy, a young filmmaker who wakes up on New Year's Day to a frantic phone call. His ex-girlfriend, Electra, has been missing for months and her mother fears the worst. Over the course of a long, rainy day, Murphy finds himself alone, reminiscing about the greatest love affair of his life - the two years he spent with Electra. What follows is a burning, passionate story, full of promises, games, excesses and mistakes…

Almost a decade in the making, this absolutely superb historical series comes to an emotional and dramatic end when season 7 (episodes 66 – 72) premieres exclusively on MHz Choice on January 30th. Noted by the NY Times as “the first major French television series seriously to address collaboration during the Nazi occupation in World War II”, A French Village skips a conventional retelling of the War and instead, turns the genre on its head by stripping away battle sequences and exploring the complicated moral choices foisted upon ordinary people in an extraordinarily difficult time in world history. Quite frankly, this series is not to be missed.
Directed by Lisa Azuelos
Produced by Pathé Films
Genres : Fiction - Runtime : 1 h 47 min
French release : 04/02/2009
Production year : 2008
LOL? It means "laughing out loud" in text language. It is also the name that Lola's friends have given her. However, when it is time to go back to school after summer break, Lola doesn't feel much like laughing. Arthur, her boyfriend, provokes her by telling her that he cheated on her over the summer. And her gang of pals is very gifted at complicating matters. Just like her mother, Anne, with whom life has become impossible, and not only because she has no idea what LOL means. That her parents have divorced is one thing, but that Anne treats her teenage daughter like a child, by lying to her about basic things - like the fact that she is still seeing her ex-partner on the sly, or that a cop is interested in her - is another. As for Anne, she wonders what on earth has happened to her sweet little daughter. From fusion to confusion, mother-daughter relationships simmer with love and plenty of LOL.

Albert Serra's 'The Death of Louis XIV' opens March 31 at the Film Society of Lincoln Center: http://filmlinc.org/newreleases
The great Jean-Pierre Léaud, synonymous with French cinema for over half a century, delivers a majestic, career-capping performance as the longest-reigning French monarch during his final days. Albert Serra’s elegant, engrossing contemplation on death and its representation finds the extravagantly wigged Sun King slowly wasting away from gangrene in his bedchamber, surrounded by devoted servants, pets and a retinue of hopeless doctors. Filled with ravishing candlelit images and painstaking details gleaned from Saint-Simon’s memoirs and other historical texts, Louis XIV is as darkly funny as it is moving, revealing the absurdity of the rule-bound royal court, but even more so of death itself. A Cinema Guild release.

Martin Provosts fictionalized and poignant portrait of Séraphine is a testament to creativity and the resilience of one womans spirit.
