Two affluent girls (Anne Hathaway and Bijou Phillips) from Los Angeles’ Pacific Palisades suburb, fascinated with hip-hop culture and bored with their everyday lives, are inspired to imitate the “gangsta lifestyle.” They quickly run into trouble when they befriend an East L.A. gang, spiraling their lives of luxury into a dark storm of violence and desperation.
