Filmmaker Juboraj Shamim's debut film "Adim" (The Instinct) has scored two awards at the 44th Moscow International Film Festival in Russia.

The film bagged Silver Saint George (Special Jury Award) and Netpack Jury Award on the last day of the 44th edition of the prestigious film festival, founded in 1935.

The film that revolves around the life of slum dwellers was shot in a Tongi slum. Real-life slum dwellers acted in the film which added life to the story.

The kids of Third Year Class-B Shiroiwa Junior High School are back, in a brand new UHD restoration of the classic cult shocker adapted from the controversial novel by Koushun Takami.

Presenting an alternate dystopian vision of turn-of-the-millennium Japan, Battle Royale follows the 42 junior high school students selected to take part in the government’s annual Battle Royale programme, established as an extreme method of addressing concerns about juvenile delinquency. Dispatched to a remote island, they are each given individual weapons (ranging from Uzis and machetes to pan lids and binoculars), food and water, and the order to go out and kill one other. Every player is fitted with an explosive collar around their neck, imposing a strict three-day time limit on the deadly games in which there can only be one survivor. Overseeing the carnage is ‘Beat’ Takeshi Kitano (Sonatine, Hana-bi, Zatoichi) as the teacher pushed to the edge by his unruly charges.

Playing like a turbo-charged hybrid of Lord of the Flies and The Most Dangerous Game, the final completed work by veteran yakuza film director Kinji Fukasaku (Battles without Honor and Humanity, Graveyard of Honor) helped launch a new wave of appreciation for Asian cinema in the 21st century. Also included in the set is the incendiary sequel Battle Royale II, the directing debut of Kenta Fukasaku (after his father passed away during production), in which a new class of delinquents are recruited by the government to hunt down the survivor of the deadly games of the first film.

Story: Having closed himself away from the world, former boxer Cheol Min starts a new part-time job as a parking lot attendant. UK-based Israeli director Iris Zaki set up her camera on the terrace of a local café in Tekoa for one month, in order to conduct conversations with Israeli settlers on the West Bank. All too aware that her political leanings do not correspond with theirs, few accept her invitation of talking to camera. But for those that do, Zaki is assertive, never shying away from posing difficult and occasionally provocative questions. They, in turn, answer candidly, sharing their beliefs. Part-artistic impulse and part-political activism, Unsettling goes a long way in highlighting the positive role cinema can play in engaging with harmful practices, fostering constructive dialogue and creating public awareness. Oh Ha Rin (Yeri) is a 28-year-old woman whose heart still yearns for her first love and closest friend Ji Seo Jun (Hongseok). They were once as close as could be, and both had strong romantic feelings for one another. And exactly a decade ago, on the fateful day when she turned 18, she had resolved to finally come clean about her the way she felt about him...only to discover that he had taken his own life. She later discovered a note where he too confessed his romantic feelings for her.

Now, 10 years on, she looks back at the tragic day. And while looking through his belongings, she happens upon a pile of eight imperviously unseen photos Ji Seo Jun had kept hidden away. Distraught by the painful memories, Oh Ha Rin burns one of the photos – only to find herself back in high school at the exact moment at which the photo was taken. Realizing that she has been gifted the power to travel back in time, she resolves to find a way to save Ji Seo Jun.
