Night on Earth is a 1991 film written and directed by Jim Jarmusch. It is a collection of five vignettes, taking place during the same night, concerning the temporary bond formed between taxi driver and passenger in five cities: Los Angeles, New York, Paris, Rome, and Helsinki. Jarmusch wrote the screenplay in about eight days, and the choice of certain cities was largely based on the actors with whom he wanted to work.[1] The soundtrack of the same name is by Tom Waits.

After the success of their cult hit, The Evil Dead producer Robert Tapert and director Sam Raimi made Crimewave their next feature film. Also along from the ride is their Evil Dead leading man Bruce Campbell, who plays a supporting role. Writing the film along with Raimi is Ethan Coen and Joel Coen (The Big Lebowski, Fargo and Raising Arizona).

In fully re-mastered glory DOWN BY LAW will have a limited run re-release in September, playing as part of the BFI’s “Jim Jarmusch and Friends” season (9 – 12 September, BFI Southbank) as well as other venues across the country. The film will be released digitally on 15 September and will be one of six films to be re-released for the first time in the UK on Blu-ray as part of the JIM JARMUSCH COLLECTION on 6 October.
