Es liegen nur noch wenige Prüfungen vor den Schülerinnen und Schülern der Privatschule in den Bergen vor Beirut. Gleich sind Sommerferien und der 11-jährige Wissam muss sich beeilen: Es bleibt nicht mehr viel Zeit, um der gleichaltrigen Joana seine Gefühle zu gestehen. Lehrerin Yasmine und Lehrer Joseph hingegen kennen die Gefühle füreinander, die politische Lage aber hat sie entzweit. Und während Wissam noch Pläne schmiedet, wird die Lage außerhalb der Schule immer kritischer. Es ist das Jahr 1982, die israelische Armee marschiert in den Libanon ein. Im Laufe des Schultages rückt der Krieg immer näher.
