Whether Wonder Woman 3 is happening in the new DC Universe has become a complicated topic, with conflicting comments and reports regarding Gal Gadot’s return to the role of Diana Prince. Gal Gadot first played Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, in what the first live-action theatrical appearance of the character. One of the most successful elements in Batman v Superman, Wonder Woman returned for her own solo film. Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman (2017) was a commercial and critical success, and a sequel, Wonder Woman 1984, was released three years later. Gadot also played Wonder Woman in Justice League, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, and The Flash.

Wonder Woman 1984, which was released during the pandemic under the same-day HBO Max drop strategy, bombed at the box office and received mixed reviews. However, it still seemed possible that Wonder Woman 3 would happen, especially because Gal Gadot continued to play the character in DCEU movie cameos. However, following the announcement that James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Studios would craft a new DC Universe movie slate starting with a Superman reboot, Gadot’s future as Wonder Woman became unclear.

Anya Taylor-Joy had an unexpected appearance in Dune: Part Two as Alia Atreides, but the actor's age didn't quite line up with her character's. Paul Atreides had several visions in Dune: Part Two, and some of them included images of his sister, Alia. As she was portrayed by Taylor-Joy, Alia appeared to be a grown woman in the vision, though she hadn't been born yet in the movie. While Paul's vision was certainly a glimpse into the future, it's difficult to determine how far into the future he saw, or how old Alia was supposed to be.

Director Denis Villeneuve made several changes to the Dune books, and Alia's role was one of the biggest modifications. Alia had several powers in the Dune books, and she played a much bigger part in its events than she did in the movie. While she wasn't utilized much in Dune: Part Two, Alia will almost certainly be a major character in Dune: Part Three, and Taylor-Joy will likely reprise her role. Translating Alia's complex character to the screen will pose a challenge, but explaining her ambiguous age will be even more difficult.

Trapped in a violent, controlling relationship with a wealthy and brilliant scientist, Cecilia Kass (Moss) escapes in the dead of night and disappears into hiding, aided by her sister (Harriet Dyer, NBC’s The InBetween), their childhood friend (Aldis Hodge, Straight Outta Compton) and his teenage daughter (Storm Reid, HBO’s Euphoria).

But when Cecilia’s abusive ex (Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Netflix’s The Haunting of Hill House) commits suicide and leaves her a generous portion of his vast fortune, Cecilia suspects his death was a hoax. As a series of eerie coincidences turns lethal, threatening the lives of those she loves, Cecilia’s sanity begins to unravel as she desperately tries to prove that she is being hunted by someone nobody can see.

Jason Blum, our current-day master of the horror genre, produces The Invisible Man for his Blumhouse Productions. The Invisible Man is written, directed and executive produced by Leigh Whannell, one of the original conceivers of the Saw franchise who most recently directed Upgrade and Insidious: Chapter 3.

The film is also produced by Kylie du Fresne (Upgrade, The Sapphires) for Goalpost Pictures. The executive producers are Whannell, Beatriz Sequeira, Charles Layton, Rosemary Blight, Ben Grant, Couper Samuelson and Jeanette Volturno. The Invisible Man is a co-production of Goalpost Pictures Australia and Blumhouse Productions, in association with Nervous Tick, for Universal Pictures.
