At age 98, director Arnon Goldfinger's grandmother passed away, leaving him the task of clearing out the Tel Aviv flat that she and her husband shared for decades after immigrating from Nazi Germany in the 1930s. Sifting through a mountain of photos, letters, files, and objects, Goldfinger undertook the complex process of making sense of the accumulated ephemera of a lifetime. In the process, he began to uncover clues pointing to a complicated and shocking story: a chronicle of the unexpected yet inevitable ethical ambiguities and repressed emotions that arise when everyday friendships suddenly cross enemy lines. In his award-winning, emotionally riveting documentary, THE FLAT, Goldfinger follows the hints his grandparents left behind to investigate long-buried family secrets and unravel the mystery of their painful past. The result is a moving family portrait and an insightful look at the ways different generations deal with the memory of the Holocaust.

While Gladiator 2 will continue the story that began in Ridley Scott's Oscar-winning Gladiator, it will star a new lead, and should shatter a box office for the up-and-coming star. Following the death of Russell Crowe's Maximus, Gladiator 2 will advance the story with Paul Mescal, who will star as the grown-up version of Lucius, the nephew of Joaquin Phoenix's Emperor Commodus. Gladiator 2 has completed filming with its new star, and with the release date swiftly approaching, box office projections are a common point of speculation.

Gladiator 2 is a near-lock to be a box office success given the significant star power of its cast list. In addition to Mescal, major roles will be played by Denzel Washington, Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn and the returning Connie Nielsen, among other notable names. While Denzel Washington's Gladiator 2 role might be the most intriguing, the box office numbers will matter the most to Mescal.

Hamas’s incursion into Israel on October 7 transformed the politics of the Middle East. Al Jazeera’s Investigative Unit (I-Unit) has carried out a forensic analysis of the events of that day – examining seven hours of footage from CCTV, dashcams, personal phones and headcams of dead Hamas fighters, and drawing up a comprehensive list of those killed.

In October 7, the I-Unit reveals widespread human rights abuses by Hamas fighters and others who followed them through the fence from Gaza into Israel.

But the investigation also found that many of the worst stories that came out in the days following the attack were false. This was especially true of atrocities that were used repeatedly by politicians in Israel and the West to justify the ferocity of the bombardment of the Gaza Strip, such as the mass killing of babies and allegations of widespread and systematic rape.

In particular the I-Unit reveals that claims by the Israel Defence Force that it found 8 burned babies at a house in Kibbutz Be’eri were entirely untrue. There were no babies in the house and the 12 civilians inside were killed by Israeli forces when they stormed the house.

This was one of a number of incidents where the police and army appear to have killed Israeli citizens.

October 7 is a deep dive into the events that led to the deaths of tens of thousands of people, the significance of which will reverberate for decades.

Tantura, Sundance’s opening night film, documents the war that broke out when the State of Israel was established in 1948. To Israelis, this is known as the War of Independence; to Palestinians, it is “Al Nakba” (the Catastrophe). In the late 1990s, graduate student Teddy Katz conducted research into a large-scale massacre that had allegedly occurred in the village of Tantura in 1948. His work later came under attack and his reputation was ruined, but 140 hours of audio testimonies remain. Director Alon Schwarz revisits these records to re-examine what happened in Tantura and explore why discussion of the Nakba is taboo in Israeli society. Interviews with former Israeli soldiers as well as Palestinian residents expose how power, silencing, and protected narratives sculpt history.

The true story of an Israeli military operation to free hostages at Entebbe Airport in Uganda, on July 4, 1976. The portrayal of Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin was Peter Finch's final performance; he died five days after the film's release.

An Air France flight is hijacked by the P.F.L.P. The plane has about one hundred Jewish passengers. The plane is grounded in Uganda. Israelis would not negotiate. This movie then shows how less than five hundred soldiers actually flew so far and rescued the passengers in one of the most successful military operations in history. The only casualty for Israeli soldiers was Lieutenant Colonel Yonatan "Yonni" Netanyahu.

It was first aired on January 9th 1977 as an NBC television film directed by Star Wars legend Irvin Kershner. For education, entertainment, enlightenment and inspiration. We hope you enjoy!
